Notes from the Mom...

So, here we are. A week into being a Mom. Wow, no one can describe the amazing feeling that you get when you look at your child. Words escape me as I look into Ella's eyes. It really is one of those things that every Mom tells you about. Every Mom says you will have this bond with your child, you will feel so attached and get into Mom mode. Honestly, I never believed them and now I am just amazed at how naturally (wanted to say easy, but we know it isn't always easy) it comes.

Anyhow, things are going great at home. We were sad to see Grandpa Larry and Grandma Ann leave this morning. They did so much for us when they were here. They also helped us out with Ella during dinner time. Grandpa Larry had the touch every night at dinner to settle her down. I think Grandpa Larry is pretty darn proud and excited. Grandma Ann couldn't break her habit of daily laundry, so it was greatly appreciated that she did all the laundry before she left.

Easter was great. All the more reason to thank God for our many blessings. Uncle Lukas came over and our wonderful friends in the neighborhood prepared a wonderful taco bar. It was great to spend Easter with people who are like family.

Here is our first family picture, Ella's Easter picture (right in the middle of a cry and that outfit was picked out by none other than Daddy).

Ella has come home

Ella got the clearance to go home from the hospital this afternoon. We were not sure if she would be able to go home. She has some newborn jaundice and she lost more weight than the doctors like, but overnight she was able to improve her jaundice and gain some weight so the doctors okayed her escape from the hospital.

Daddy's Little Girl

Here are a few more pictures of Ella. A couple with her proud dad, and one with her new auntie Ariel. The last one is from us trying to wake her up to eat. She is already stubborn like her parents.

Pictures of Ella

Here are the first published pictures of Ella

Ella MaryAnn Meyer is born

Ella was born this morning at 5:53 AM. She and her mother are doing very well. She was born via C section because Ella was facing sideways and her shoulders would not clear for her to be born naturally. So after arriving at 1:30 Am on Saturday we have our first child Sunday morning. Beleive me it seems a lot longer than it sounds. Stephanie was in labor for almost 17 hours and spent 2 hours pushing trying her best to get Ella out before the C section. I will be posting some pictures in a little while so keep checking back.

Stephanie is moving along nicely and Baby Meyer should arrive sometime in the next few hours. Check out some pictures of the soon to be Mom and Dad along with some pictures of the room.

Made it to the hospital

We got the call at and arrived at the hospital at 1:30 AM. Stephanie is doing well and has taken some medication to help prepare for labor.

Birthday has been postponed

Due to higher than normal traffic at Kennestone hospital and normal levels of communication from the hospital staff (i.e. poor) a day of sitting on pins and needles waiting to go be induced looks like it will not happen until Saturday. We are not sure when we will get the call to go to the hosiptal, it could be in the middle of the night or sometime in the morning.

Baby Meyer's Birthday...

Baby Meyer will have a birthday on Friday, with all luck. The doctor said that it was time and Friday we are a week overdue. The due date was actually the 6th! Which, we are glad we didn't know because the nerves would have really been high!

And please, no horror stories about what happened when you or some one you know were induced. We are already nervous! :-)

Sorry if you are finding out that is when in this blog. We have been on the phone trying to get family arrangments (Baby sightings) set up.

Stephanie is off tomorrow so you can call if you want to chat. We are going to take the rest of the night to let it all sink in.

More to come on Friday!

Baby Meyer's Sleeping Arrangments...

Take a peek...

Hopefully Baby Meyer will be in their own bedroom before too long. For those of you who remember this room as royal blue, this is quite a change! 3 walls are light green and 1 wall is light yellow.

Of course, you can see that Handsome Hawkeye still has his lounging spot.

In the mean time, at least we can see Baby Meyer's profile from 20 weeks!
We will keep you posted!
